Terms of use
Last updated: 16 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Francesco Noferi, Via Carlo Collodi 27, 50059 Vinci (FI), Italy ("we"), who make the RetroReady app and the website retroready.app. By using the app or the website you agree to them. Questions: support@retroready.app.
1. What RetroReady does
You photograph a video game cartridge, disc or box, and RetroReady tells you which release it most likely is, what in your photos points to it, and what you may need to play it. Answers are written by AI models from your photos and from reference information, and when you ask a question in the app, an AI answers it. Answers can be wrong. Follow-up answers (questions you ask, and the extra sections you open) are not fact-checked. RetroReady points out things worth a closer look, but it never says whether a copy is genuine or fake, and it does not value games. Check anything that matters, especially before you buy or sell.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 14 years old to use RetroReady, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
3. No account
The app needs no account. On first launch it gets a random install id, which counts your free scans and what you bought. Your scans are saved on your phone: if you delete the app or its data, they are gone, and we cannot bring them back.
4. Free scans and plans
- Every install gets 3 free scans.
- The yearly, monthly and weekly plans give unlimited scans, under fair use: to keep RetroReady available for everyone, an install that scans far beyond personal use may be answered by simpler models, or paused until the next day. Which AI models answer can change with demand.
- Plans renew automatically at the end of each period (a year, a month or a week) until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. There is no free trial.
- A plan belongs to your App Store or Google Play account: after reinstalling the app, or on a new phone, tap "Restore purchases" to get it back.
- Apple and Google sell the plans and handle payment, prices (shown in the store before you buy), refunds and your right of withdrawal under their own terms: Apple, Google Play.
5. The free scan on the website
The website's free scan identifies one game per scan, with no follow-up questions, up to a few scans a day per connection. It is offered as is and may be paused when it is busy. The rest of these terms apply to it too.
6. Using it fairly
Send only photos you are allowed to take and share, and questions about games. Do not send content that is illegal, sexual, hateful or meant to harm anyone. Every request is checked automatically; refused requests are not counted against your scans, and an install (or, on the website, a connection) whose requests are refused three times in a day is paused until the next day. Do not use the app, the website or their server for anything other than what they are for (for example through scripts, bots or a modified app), and do not try to get around their limits.
7. Your photos and questions
They stay yours. You allow us, and the providers listed in our privacy policy, to process them so that we can answer you. Our server does not keep them.
8. Ours, and other people's
The app, the website, their design, the mascot and the texts belong to us. The guides and posts on the website are for information; illustrations on the blog are AI-generated and labelled as such. Game titles, characters, logos and box art belong to their owners. RetroReady is an independent app: it is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft or any game publisher, and their names are used only to say which games the app recognises.
9. Availability
We work to keep RetroReady running, but it can be busy or unavailable at times, and features can change. When the app cannot answer a scan, the scan is not counted.
10. Liability
RetroReady gives information, not professional advice. We are not liable for decisions you make based on its answers, or for indirect losses, except where the law does not allow this to be limited, including for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
11. App Store
If you got RetroReady from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app.
12. Changes and ending
We may update these terms when the app or the website changes; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we tell you in the app about changes that matter. You can stop using RetroReady at any time by deleting it (cancel any plan in your store account first).
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Italy. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are solved by an email.
